Window Tint & Solar Shades for a 2-Storey House: Cut the Heat Without Raising the Power Bill

Jabodetabek's dry season usually peaks in July and August, and that's when upstairs bedrooms become the stuffiest spot in the house. Before you drop the AC another two degrees, there are a few ways to stop heat at the window that cost far less.

Most of the heat that gets into a house comes through the windows, not through the walls. Tropical-home studies keep showing that glass hit by direct sun can account for a large share of a room's heat load. That's why an upstairs bedroom often feels like an oven by late afternoon: the roof has soaked up heat all day, and the glass faces a sun that's now low and glaring.
